There is a place in the Luzon Northernland at an elevation of 5,000 feet above seal level with a perpetual temperate climate and was sometimes visited by frosts.
These were the first description of Baguio City according to the history books. It was stated by Domingo Sanchez, a Spaniard who is a member of the Spanish Forestry Bureau, a description he said to Dean C. Worcester when they met in the Mindoro Island.
Today, that temperate climate is one of the major reasons why Baguio City is among the best destinations to visit in the Philippines. While the lowlands suffer from excessive heat during the summer season baguio city enjoys an average of 20-25 degrees celsius temperature. During the cold months however the City of Pines experiences a temperature ranging from 10-15 degrees celsius. The coldest temperature experienced in Baguio City was during the 1960's at 6 degrees celsius.
It is because of this cold weather that tourists flock to Baguio. Today however, the city of pines also offers a lot more than the cold weather. Families can enjoy several fun activities such as a bike ride at Burnham park, a boat ride at the Burnham Lake, Picnic at the Camp John Hay or art appreciation at the different Art Museums in Baguio City.
February is one of the busiest months as the City celebrates the Panagbenga Festival. The Panagbenga Festival was conceptualized to celebrate the rise of the City after suffering a devastation during the 1990 Killer Earthquake. The Panagbenga Festival is a colorful celebration which is highlighted by a Grand Street Dancing Parade and a Grand Float Parade.
Indeed, Baguio City has come a long way from the time that the City was just a rancheria, originally called Kafagway, today that Kafagway is already melting pot of culture that translated to a thriving tourism industry and a rich place to open up a business. Baguio City is now becoming a very popular destination in the Luzon Northernland.
